Naughton Scholarship for Eoin 24 September 2016

Eoin Corcoran receiving his scholarship award from An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD at a ceremony in Trinity College, Dublin on Saturday 24th September.
Also in picture are Mrs. Maureen Walsh, Principal, Mr. Martin Naughton and Mrs. Carmel Naughton of the Naughton Foundation.
The Naughton Scholarship is worth €20,000 and the school receives a cheque for €1,000

 

At the presentation of a sponsorship cheque by the Mountbellew branch of St Jarlath’s Credit Union to HRC for the HRC Musical: Peter Fallon (Mountbellew Credit Union), Maureen Walsh (Principal), Michael Ryan (Mountbellew Credit Union)


Hairspray will be staged in the school gym from Thursday 24th to Saturday, 26th November

Official Opening of New School and Celebrations to mark the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of the school
Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make our Official Opening Weekend such a memorable occasion. Over 1,500 past pupils, parents and friends of HRC visited the school over the weekend to tour the building, meet friends and exchange memories.

Fifty Years in Mountbellew
On Thursday, 11 August 2015, friends, teachers, past pupils and parishioners came together in St. Mary's Church, Mountbellew for a Mass to celebrate the arrival in the town of two Sisters of Christian Retreat on the 11 August, 1965 to prepare for the establishment of the co-ed Holy Rosary College.
The two, Sr. Dympna and Sr. Columba were united again, 50 years later, for the celebration which continued afterwards in the adjoining pastoral centre, where the contribution of all the Sisters who served in the school and community was honoured

Junior Cert. September 2015

A number of relieved and delighted students just after receiving their Junior Cert Results.


Aoibheann Russell T.Y., who, based on her Junior Cert results September 2015, qualified to participate in the International Senior Science Olympiad. The winners of the Olympiad will compete in the European Competition in Estonia later in the year.

Lydia Doyle, Abbeyknockmoy, a third year student of Holy Rosary College was recently awarded best female athlete in Galway in the 12-15 year age category.

Congratulations to:

our Camogie Players who defeated Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch 3-12 to 2-5 in the All Ireland Camogie semi-final: They are now through to the All-Ireland final against Gorey Community School. Date and venue to be decided.
to Shane Higgins (3rd year) who has been selected on the U’16 Irish Cycling team.
Anna Traynor (TY) who has been accepted onto the AMBER programme for TY students based in Trinity College, Dublin.

AMBER is an SFI funded centre that is jointly hosted in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) by CRANN and the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering (TCBE), working in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Cork.
Anna is one of 15 students from around the country, who will take part in “Exploring Materials” TY experience.
Anna was awarded this opportunity based on her exceptional results in Maths and Science in Junior Cert 2014.

MTW Award 2014
