Career Guidance & Counselling

HRC has a comprehensive Career Guidance and Counselling Service for Senior Cycle Students. The service includes:

	A weekly class contact session with the Guidance Counsellor
	Individual Career Interviews with Guidance Counsellor
	Career notice boards
	Career Information Lending Scheme
	Annual talks for parents / students on CAO and Third Level / Apprenticeships / Other options
	Individual meetings with parents by appointment
	Career Projects in Leaving Cert 1
	Visiting Speakers
	Computer database with details of over 1,000 Third Level and Post -Leaving Cert. courses
	Aptitude tests administered, scored and results interpreted

Junior Certificate Students are also helped to choose their subjects for Senior Cycle as well as being given general guidelines. An Information night is provided for parents and students so that well informed choices can be made.

The Guidance Counsellor attends monthly in-service meetings and keeps in regular contact with all 3rd level Education systems in Ireland and the U.K., as well as with FÁS / SOLAS, TEAGASC, FAILTE IRELAND and many other organisations.

LEARNING SUPPORT / RESOURCE TEACHING

Three specially trained teachers offer resource teaching to students who need particular educational help. The students are able to benefit from work in small groups.
